As a member of the audience development business intelligence and data engineering team, you will build and own mission-critical data pipelines that are the single point of truth for Bauer Xcel’s business decisions.
You will be a part of an early stage team with a significant impact on all our users and the company’s growth. The team is primarily responsible for ensuring that the cloud based BI infrastructure and tracking solutions are robust and continuously optimized and to make data reliable and accessible to various different stakeholders within the organization. As such your efforts will reveal invaluable business and user insights, leveraging vast amounts of data to help numerous stakeholders from editors to product managers and our top management in making the right data driven decisions.

Your tasks

  • Implementation, improvement and maintenance of our data pipelines including the management of our data stores with a focus on Google BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage
  • Create ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, Apache Airflow and various Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies
  • Take ownership of deployment and release processes including the job orchestration and deployment through Google Cloud Composer and Google Tag Manager
  • Implement automated machine learning workflows and predictive analytics
  • Define, plan and implement different tracking requirements
  • Visualize data based on pre-defined stakeholder requirements within Data Studio, Power BI and/or Looker
  • Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs and use written, verbal or presentation materials when necessary in order to communicate technical and business topics in 360-degree fashion
  • Serve as a consultant on the company’s analytics success and implement best practices in multiple analytics domains
  • Keep up to date on relevant technologies and frameworks and study the needs of the business teams to propose new solutions and design

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in developing, deploying, and supporting ETL workflows and creating data pipelines using Python / Airflow and SQL is required
  • Hands-on experience with GCP architecture, Google Cloud Storage, Google Analytics, Google BigQuery as well as in using tag management systems preferably Google Tag Manager
  • Experience in HTML, CSSas well as familiarity with common API’s: REST, SOAP
  • Detail-oriented, with organizational and documentation skills as well as excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Personal flexibility, a good understanding of data validity, a hands-on approach and strong people skills must come naturally
  • Project management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver on tight deadlines within a fast paced and changing environment with short deadlines, interruptions, and multiple projects occurring at once and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to derive and design technical specifications from general stakeholder requirements and to simplify the complex and translate into bite-size value across different stakeholder groups
  • Previous work experience for an online publisher is a plus
