Group Software Asset Management is the team at Bauer responsible for managing Software Assets across all locations, providing industry standard governance and services. This is a fantastic opportunity working for a Global media company with great development potential for the right candidate in a newly formed team.

The role is based in UK, Hamburg or Warsaw (when in the office), reporting to the Group Software Asset Manager as part of the Group Software Asset Management team. Working in a team you will help Bauer optimise its Software usage across all territories and co-terming agreements where possible, as well as providing a BAU service – ensuring that all software requests are processed efficiently.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain the SAM database, including input and update of data for software assets in relation to the life cycle
  • Identify data requirements to manage inventory and usage reporting to support data connection activities
  • Identify inaccuracies in the SAM database through periodic quality checks, and resolve them or escalate them for investigation
  • Investigation of reporting on licensing issues and options for resolution
  • Identify shelf ware, alternative support options, rationalization, license recycling and optimal licensing practices
  • Provide reports and data from the SAM database to support the negotiation and procurement of software purchases
  • Support the software and maintenance renewals processes
  • Answer enquiries about software usage and license availability
  • Alert stakeholders to licensing changes that are relevant to them and arrange licensing briefings as appropriate
  • Work with the software asset manager to raise awareness of SAM processes and policy across the IT organization and wider business

Your profile

Skills:
  • Highly organized with acute attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, data-gathering, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deal with difficult customers and suppliers
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English and Polish or German and English
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and managers
Knowledge (Preferred not essential):
  • Knowledge of various types of software contract and license agreements and metrics in a global environment
  • Experience with asset management systems and software inventory tools for software on prem and as a service
Educational background and experience:
  • ITAM/SAM or License Manager certification (preferred not essential)
  • Min. 2 years in an IT or analytical role (Essential)
  • 1+ years' experience of working in the ITAM/SAM industry (Essential)
